Trick of Fae
WOW! What a story! I always used to love reading nursery rhymes but after having read this book I’m not so sure I like them anymore. Are they really the gruesome stories of the Fae? This book is absolutely fantastic. Not only has the author created a terrific, if slightly terrifying, world beneath our own but the two are so intertwined and ingeniously described you can’t help but think it might all be real. The Fae world is rich in description with sights, sounds and smells beautifully described. The characters are all very well developed with real personalities and great depth. The Fae ones, in particular, have thick layers of actions, truths and deception that are slowly peeled back to reveal so much more than was first apparent. Even the evil ones have redeeming features and past experiences revealed that stop you from completely hating them..
The whole Fae world in Trick is based on Irish lore and folktales that have been spun into an intricate web of mystery, intrigue and ancient elven battles against — or for? — humans. You will never hear the words of a nursery rhyme again without wondering what the true meaning of them really is. This story will keep you entertained from the first word to the last and will make you realise nothing is what it seems.
